The egg donor matching process at the Fertility Institute of San Diego is a careful and personalized process designed to match intended parents with the ideal egg donor. Here’s how the process works:
Intended Parent Preferences
Intended parents provide us with their preferences for an egg donor, including characteristics such as physical appearance, ethnicity, education, and hobbies.
Our team will send possible donors from our active donor pool, and keep intended parents updated on any incoming donors that may be a good possible match.
Donor Database Review
Intended parents may also review our in-house donor database online to view donor profiles, health history, social history and photos. To view our online donor database, click here.
If an intended parent is unable to find a donor that they would like to move forward with in our donor database, they may research and review donors from outside agencies or frozen egg banks.
Donor Selection
Once the intended parent(s) find a donor that they would like to match with, they may select the donor online (through our database) or let their third party coordinator know.
Intended parents may put a donor on a complimentary hold for 5 days.
Compatibility Assessment
We conduct a thorough assessment to ensure compatibility between the intended parents and the chosen egg donor.
This includes medical and psychological evaluations to ensure that both parties are prepared for the donation process.
Legal Considerations
Once a match is confirmed, the donor will complete her cycle medical screening. Upon completion of screening, the intended parents and donor will complete legal contracts.
This contract will confirm intended parent and donor preferences in areas such as confidentiality, compensation, and future contact.
