Becoming an egg donor is a generous and life-changing decision. At the Fertility Institute of San Diego, we have specific criteria for selecting egg donors to ensure the highest quality donor eggs for our patients. Eligibility to be an egg donor includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Age

Egg donors must typically be between the ages of 21 and 32. This age range is selected to ensure the highest quality and quantity of eggs.

Health

Egg donors must be in good physical and mental health. They will undergo a series of medical and psychological screenings to ensure they meet our health criteria.

Non-Smoker

Egg donors must be non-smokers and lead a healthy lifestyle. Smoking can have a negative impact on egg quality and overall health.

BMI

Egg donors should have a healthy body mass index (BMI). This is important for overall health and reproductive success.

Education and Background

While not a strict requirement, many intended parents prefer egg donors who have completed at least some college education. Donors from diverse backgrounds are also encouraged to apply.

Commitment

Egg donation is a commitment that requires time and dedication. Donors must be willing to undergo the necessary screenings and procedures.

Becoming an egg donor at the Fertility Institute of San Diego is a rewarding experience that can help individuals and couples achieve their dream of starting a family. If you meet our eligibility criteria and are interested in becoming an egg donor, we invite you to fill out our egg donor application. Your generosity can make a profound difference in someone else’s life.
